Espanol Uno
In the months of November and December we have taken our learning in Spanish to a whole new level! We started off researching one country of our choice. I chose Venezuela. After researching and learning what life in Venezuela was like we were assigned to write and illustrate and Children's story. My book was named Me Vida en Caracas, you can see the audio file and presentation of this book at the bottom of the page. Than presentation day came after every book was finished and ready for critique.
We arrived at Park Elementary before the exhibition started looking professional and ready to read to a group of students. When I stepped foot inside the classroom I immediately felt a little intimidated by a group of 7 year old children staring at us from across the room. We were than paired up with a child and read to this little girl. She enjoyed my Spanish book even though she didn't understand a word of Spanish. This brought me relief in many ways. Than this little girl made me read a book about Fairies. I gave this book 110% and made this little girl's day. She was laughing and giggling and smiling throughout the entire book and I had her eyes glued to this book. I gave every fairy his or her's own voice and made sure the voices and expressions were funny. Than we moved on to another little girl which every other group had no luck with. Her eyes lit up when I read Clifford's Cool Christmas. She could barely control herself she was laughing so hard. Than next thing you know there are 13 or more faces watching me read. I was a hit! This entire project was a boatload of fun and I would be glad to do it again.

Descripcion de Trabajo
In this art project we were assigned a number of tasks. First we had to find ourselves a Spanish artist. Mine was Santiago Calatrava who was born and raised in Spain and is a world renowned architect. After discovering who my Artist was I had to set out and create a piece of work similar to his. In my project I decided to build a bridge after one of Santiago Calatrava's shown below. This was a difficult process due to the availability and easiness to bring tools to class. In the end I finished it and it was all ready for exhibition where I spoke to Spanish speakers and answered questions for them.
Reflexion
Throughout this project I learned a lot about Spanish. I learned at least 40 new vocabulary words that allowed me to progress my writing in this Spanish project. I also learned about the artist behind all of this. I learned that the artist has many different hobbies and he lives to create wonderful buildings. When I did this project I was very proud of my speaking at the exhibition. I believe I spoke to visitors with confidence and with correct pronunciations. What I would of done differently was spend more time on my project. I believe I didn't spend enough time on it and I could have refined it very well. In the end the project was fun I believe.

La Proyecta De Comida
In Spanish class we started a Project in where we had to learn about a traditional food from a Spanish speaking country. Once you learned about this piece of food you would make a Spanish recipe and then make it. Once you ate you could write and ode towards it that gives it a beautiful meaning and you would then recite the ode to people at exhibition while they ate your food. The project was very cool and unique I believe I really learned a lot about food and about Spanish. In this project my vocabulary expanded immensely. I believe this can help me out later in life and that I can now ask for food in Mexico on visits. I thought this project was cool because I got to read to parents and students and feed them my dish. They all thought it tasted good too and I thought that was a large accomplishment. I believe this was a very strong project and it couldn't have been much better! I would love to do it again and can't wait to see this years freshman do it next year!
