Geometry
Slice Forms This year our teacher Kathy has introduced so many new projects and ideas to us. This idea was creating any object of shape or size and making it able to fold up. These 3-d objects are able to fold flat in seconds and than pop right back up to a 3-d object. In this project we started out making a light bulb. Light bulbs were fun to make but it wasn't me. For my final project I made a slice form that I never thought could turn out looking cool. This slice form had to be me and had to be something I could make with a ruler and a pencil. Than it hit me! I made a pickup truck slice form. This slice form was a model of an F-350 ford pickup truck. I believe I should have refined this project cause it came out really half done and cruddy. I worked hard on it but I could of pushed a little harder to get something that would of been even more worthwhile. In the end this project was really fun for me.

What I have learned
We have covered many things this Semester in Geometry. Here are the things that we learned so far. We learned Inductive and Deductive Reasoning. Inductive is reasoning from a specific case or point and deductive is going from a general case to a specific reasoning. Than there is recognizing patterns and modeling them with equations. We have to find patterns in geometry because there are tons of them. It helps us model the equation and let us get the right answer. Special angle relationships are important because a major part of geometry is angles and if you don't know anything about angles than you do not belong in this class. Points of concurrency these are important because it helps us relate to the triangle and find certain things such as distances and locations. Than there is making constructions with compasses and a straight edge. In geometry you need a quick way to make things dead on without measurements or using numbers. We learned how to re-create any shape with just our straight edge and compass. Discovering and proving triangle properties is using the overall dimensions and triangle conjectures to be able to find if other triangles are congruent or not. It is pretty helpful. Discovering and proving polygon properties is relationships and patterns that all polygons have and how using these patterns and relationships can help you find anything you need to find with polygons. It will also help you find location and points as well.
The only close thing we have done to a project is our comp book. Our comp book has assignments from all of our proofs and things we have learned in Geometry. It tells us and helps us learn and keep track of what we did. It is a useful tool and makes it easy to be self reliant.
A topic I enjoyed over the first semester was learning how the number of sides in a polygon have to do with the inerior angle sum of the polygon. I enjoyed learning how to do the equations and putting angles together and finding angles. It was a giant puzzle in a way. A problem of the week I found that was complicating and fun was the POW that we had to find a way to have many diferent triangles in one 9 piece square and it took me a while to complete this. It was fun though because I enjoy a challenge. A problem solving technique I used to solve this was I did guess and check because I already had many triangles so I did guess and check.
The Quote by J.H. Poincare says "The mathematician does not study pure mathematics because it is useful; he studeies it because he delights in it and he delights in it becaue it is beautiful. My reaction to this quote is that math is beautiful it is like a science in which the final equation looks as if it could be an art piece. It is the truth because someone studies something that they enjoy not because they are forced to. When Mrs. Eagan say "Math is beautiful" I partiall agree. I find problems fun because the meer accomplshment of me doing them is satisfying to me. I think that homeworkd
